The National Theatre (Londres, 1967)

“To me a building has to be positively linked to the city; it can be done by a harmony of facades, by making the building contribute to the street’s language no matters what it is there to di itself. But the facade, although a magnificent device, is not the only one. Obliterating the sharp distinctions between interior and exterior is an alternative – the use of the City itself as a fourth wall: for example, Somerset House seen from the National Theatre.”
